Before Surgery Patient Care Guide

Before Surgery Patient Care Guide

The Before Surgery Patient Care Guide is an invaluable resource if you are considering undergoing a cosmetic procedure with Shape Cosmetic Surgery. There are many strategies and ways to ensure that your recovery is less stressful and far more enjoyable. Here are a few essential tips to help you effectively navigate through this process of preparing for your surgery!

Prior to your procedure, we highly recommend taking the time to go grocery shopping, thoroughly cleaning your home, and completing other important activities that you may find difficult or unable to do while you focus on your recovery from cosmetic surgery. This proactive approach will help relieve unnecessary stress during your healing period and create a more peaceful and relaxing environment for your recovery journey.

Preparing pre-made food items is always incredibly helpful, as it allows for convenience and ease during a busy recovery period. Discussing with your children that you may be unable to attend certain events for a few days may help them feel less anxious and more understanding of the situation. Children love to participate and help out, and most enjoy pampering you during this time of recovery!

It is mandatory that you arrange for someone over the age of 18 years old to provide safe transportation to and from surgery, as well as the following day for your important post-operative appointment. While taking your prescribed pain medication, please do not drive until you have not taken the medication for a full 48 hours. Your driving abilities may be significantly impaired for this period and potentially up to 48 hours after you have stopped taking the medication as well.

Please arrange for a caregiver to remain with you for a full 24 hours after your procedure. This is mandatory because you will be receiving anesthetic medication that can impact your ability to think or make high level decisions. If you have young children, it is important to note that you may not be able to care for them adequately for a period of 24 to 48 hours following your surgery. Having someone available to help with your children during this time is very important for both your recovery and their well-being. This person should not only monitor your pain medication doses but also be able to check in on you consistently throughout the night. If there are any problems, questions, or concerns that arise during your recovery, please do not hesitate to contact Shape at 509-458-7546 for assistance.
